Riding Arena

Ogema’s Riding Arena is located behind the Recreation Complex past the campgrounds north of Highway 13. It was built in 2001 by local members of the Big Muddy Team Roping Association. It is 150 feet x 300 feet in size and comes equipped with team roping boxes, cattle chutes and holding pens. The arena has a sand bottom and just received new sand in May 2017.  A new Announcer's Stand was built in July 2017. "Sponsor A Panel Innitiative" was started in the summer of 2021 to replace the page wire surrounding the arena. Volunteers have been busy ripping down the wire and replacing it with panels....the arena almost has a complete face lift with only the west side left to replace with the panels!! Thank you to everyone who has sponsored a panel!!

The riding arena is home to the Deep South Barrel Racing Series and the Ogema Barrel Bash. The Barrel Bash brings approximately 200 contestants to town every year and has been running for 12 consecutive years. The Deep South Barrel Racing Finals are also hosted here in September. The Arena is also a busy place for the Ogema Light Horse 4H Club as they hold their rides here from Spring to Fall and also their annual Achievement Day in June.
